After 20 years of being “His Hands and Feet” to build what is now known as the Children’s Rescue Center, Susie Rastatter and Nancy Lutz have been promoted from Co-Executive Directors to Board Members and Volunteers of the Children’s Rescue Center. This transition has allowed them to continue Kingdom work by ministering more directly to inner city youth and their families.

We are excited and humbled to be stepping into the shoes that Susie and Nancy once filled as Co-Executive Directors of the Children’s Rescue Center. As each day passes and with each new story that we hear about Susie and Nancy, we continue to be humbled by the magnitude of wonderful things these ladies have done and the type of God-guided women that Susie and Nancy are. As we grow into the shoes that Susie and Nancy have stepped out of, we invite you to continue to be vitally involved in the emerging adventure with God that we are on, both personally, and as a ministry.
At the beginning of our transition, we read the book Nice Girls Don’t Change the World. Within her story, author Lynne Hybels included this poem. We have adopted her words as a declaration of the type of women we want to be. Enjoy!
“May we be women who acknowledge our power to change, and grow,
and be radically alive for God.
May we be healers of wounds and righters of wrongs.
May we weep with those who weep and speak for those who
cannot speak for themselves.
May we cherish children, embrace the elderly and empower the poor.
May we pray deeply and teach wisely.
May we be strong and gentle leaders.
May we sing songs of joy and talk down fear.
May we never hesitate to let passion push us, conviction compel us, and righteous anger energize us.
May we strike fear into all that is unjust and evil in the world.
May we dismantle abusive systems and silence lies with truth.
May we shine like stars in a darkened generation.
May we overflow with goodness in the name of God and by the power of Jesus; and in that name, and by that power, may we change the world.”
